Saturday Suggestions

ONE.

I ‘ve written often on here about capsule wardrobes and why I love them so. I’m not hard-core with mine, but I do try to be intentional about what I own in in the clothing world. Part of that is driven more easily by the fact that we don’t have a ton of storage here at this house, so less really is more! I know the idea of creating such a capsule can still be overwhelming to people, and this post that popped up in my Pinterest feed this week gives one of the best explanations I’ve read. If you’re intrigued but still confused on how to make it a reality, check out these ideas! (Plus, the writer is all about making sure it fits your tastes and lifestyle – and that truly does matter!)

TWO.

Do you remember a few years ago when Ryan and I did an entire year of alphabetical dates? It was SO much fun. It was our fifth year of marriage, and we started in January and went clear through the year, doing a couple of the dates each month. We tried new things and loved it. Here are some more ideas for alphabetical dates. Obviously not all of them will appeal to everyone, but I think the list offers a stellar variety of ideas! Maybe we should make this a goal again soon. That sure was a fun adventure!

THREE.

Even before I was married, traditions were important to me, and I did everything I could to establish some that I could do on my own (or with friends). I recognize that sometimes traditions can be suffocating – rushing to accomplish them all. I loved this little list that I found that offers some easy-to-accomplish, low-key traditions for each month of the year. Some of them may not apply if you don’t have kids, but I think it’s a great brainstorm list at the very least. Check it out if you’re trying to establish meaningful traditions!

FOUR.

Shed conversions have always fascinated me. I’ve shared some before – people have turned larger outdoor sheds into tiny homes. This one is calm and beautiful – made more so by the porch! (This is a video tour, not a photo tour.) I still don’t know where you would store things if this served as a full time home, unless you truly downsized almost everything, but it is still cute!

FIVE.

A Christmas movie cruise??? With cookie making and carol-oke? While this might make me say “Now I’ve seen everything,” I also might have to say a cruise full of Christmas Cheer is pretty brilliant!

SIX.

And finally, if you aren’t going away for a vacation but wish your home felt like one – here’s how you can make it happen! A stay-cation worthy home. We’ve actually done a few of these things along the way, and it’s true! It does make everything feel more inviting. (We don’t have the “good ice” maker, but I can see how that would be a draw. Anyone a fan of the “good ice” besides me?)

I wonder if any women will take their husbands on the Christmas movie cruise without telling them what the cruise’s theme is!
The best thing I’ve done to make my house feel like a vacation home is to get rid of the clutter.
