Saturday Suggestions

Well, friends, give  a girl a new month and watch her TOTALLY FORGET to post some suggestions for your Saturday! I had them all ready, but I got caught up in scrapbooking last night and straight up forgot to actually post them. This morning I had the rarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre privilege of sleeping in, so here we are, at 9:30 in the morning, just remembering to do this. I apologize for my tardiness, but I do not regret the rest!

ONE.

You know how I love me some cute food. It is the best. It’s true what they way – you eat first with your eyes. These little snacks for the 4th of July are SO ADORABLE!!! You could make the filling part a little healthier if you made some substitutions, but the whole thing is cute as a little button and looks absolutely delicious.

TWO.

Now, this garden is fascinating to me. We have loved seeing throughout this year the things that already existed in the landscaping when we purchased the house. It’s been fun to watch them appear, green up, and blossom. But I’ve always wondered what it would look like to have a flower bed that was colorful in all seasons. Ours was bare…and then little…and now it’s full…and I imagine by fall, most things will wilt and fade. This bed idea shows plants that blossom in alternating seasons, so you always have different groupings of green vs. blooms. I don’t know enough about plants to come up with this stuff on my own, but I loved reading about it!

THREE.

When I was first out on my own, I thought there was some sort of prize for owning the most seasonal decorations and thoroughly outfitting my home in said décor on a tightly rotating schedule. Well, I’ve been on my own for almost 25 years now, and I still haven’t won that prize. I’m starting to think it doesn’t exist. 😊 In recent years, and certainly with this last move, I have found the value in minimizing the seasonal stuff. (Christmas may have to be excluded from that, though I have let go of several Christmas decorations in the last couple of years.) I am trying to find ways to make subtle seasonal additions without the need to completely undecorate and redecorate. I loved these porch décor ideas for patriotic holidays. If you use white and blue as standard base decorating colors, some simple red touches and a few flags can really go a long way in making it super cute! Blue is actually one of our target colors for the outside as we go along, because it feels very beachy. This could work!

FOUR.

Our guest room/Lexi’s room has an Anne of Green Gables theme to it. Part of that theme is accomplished through the décor, which is kind of reminiscent of Anne’s style and photos of Green Gables. Part of it is accomplished in some watercolor paintings of scenes from the book/movie. These pretty, printable quotes would make a great rotating addition to the décor in there, I think! I love Anne quotes so much, and these are indeed some of my favorites!

FIVE.

I’ve shared this information before, but I do still get messages about it sometimes, so it never hurts to share again! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m about to start an in-depth study of Leviticus, and the books I’m using to drive my studies right now are from Precept Ministries. Here is the link to the one on Leviticus, but they have many book studies and some topical ones as well. You can choose the level of depth you want to study – so if you don’t have a ton of time, there are some less time-consuming options for the same books. These studies aren’t “beautified,” meaning they are just text on white paper. No photographs or other pretty graphics. But they are really well-done and deep, which is what matters in a Bible study! I have completed all five Genesis studies and the single book on Exodus. I’ll be doing Leviticus for the second half of this year.

SIX.

Remember earlier this year when I told you about the world cruise that leave this December from the US? It will be gone almost a year and will go to every continent. Well, if that wasn’t enough for you, how about THIS cruise? It’s gone for three years, also hits every continent, and stops at many more ports. I am not sure I can fathom three years on a ship.
