Saturday was crafting day!
My friend Jaye (who went with me to the Newsboys concert) booked a weekend at the Craft Hideaway and asked if I wanted to come for any or all of the weekend. Um, yes please!!
I just went for Saturday. Twelve GLORIOUS hours of crafting! My friends Sarah and Anna were also there but they're not big picture people, so I'm keeping my pictures of them just for the scrapbook.
Sarah's daughter, though...my word is she ever cute! How can you not smile looking at this sweetness??
Anna was busy sewing tiny 0-3 month baby skirts to sell...so Jaye tried one on. That's a good little day when you can still wear newborn clothing!
Speaking of a good little day...one of the best things about the Craft Hideaway - IS THE FOOD!! This was our lunch. Macaroni salad, broccoli cheese soup, a roll, and strawberry ice cream for dessert. YES PLEASE.
Jaye sat across from me and worked on her scrapping while I worked on mine.
See? Working hard. With coffee. Actually that was chai. And it. was. good. (And as a note of clarification...when I put this picture on Facebook, one of my friends thought my shirt said temporary Christian. It really says CONTEMPORARY Christian. As in the music at my job. :)
First story of the day. The hideaway is in the heart of the country; it's in a big old farmhouse. So much character! About mid-afternoon, I got a phone call, and the sun had finally showed up, so I went out to sit on the porch and not bother others with the call. I decided to walk up and down the sidewalk for a bit while I talked - just to enjoy the sun. I looked at the edge of the sidewalk and saw what looked like a fat worm. I thought that was odd since it hadn't rained...and as I leaned closer to peek at it, a bright red tongue darted out of its mouth.
Y'all, IT WAS A SNAKE.
I screamed (as muffledly as I could) and ran up the steps (because I was in shorts and flip flops). When I got inside and told the other girls there was a snake, Sarah wanted to see it. So we went back out (with camera) and brave, BRAVE Sarah took this picture. (You might have to click on it to get it big enough to really appreciate the shiver.)
Jaye missed the excitement because she was getting her nails done. Oh yes. How fun is that??
Second story of the day. Remember my Pinterest inspired project from Sunday's post? I made it at the Hideaway. I'd bought a new glue gun for the adventure, and bought a low temp one because I severely burned a finger on mine one time. It worked out perfectly to use the low temp gun with the coffee filters because I could press the filter down without getting burned.
I learned, however, that if you drop the filter and pour the hot glue directly ON your finger - IT STILL HURTS LIKE FIRE.
Fortunately they have a first aid kit there, so I was able to put Neosporin on it right away and it only hurt for a little bit.
Here was the project halfway through.
This photo was inspired by our listening to the Newsboys CD, including the song God's Not Dead and the line "He's livin' on the inside, roarin' like a lion!"
And in honor of the Kentucky Derby....
And now we're done being silly. This is the wreath!! Took one hundred coffee filters. I loved the way it turned out!
Dinner was chicken and carrots and potatoes and a roll and a brownie (not pictured, but certainly loved). And no, I did not eat it all.
After dinner we watched the first ever episode of Grey's Anatomy and I just have to say - there's a whole lot I'd forgotten about in 8 seasons!!
I left about 10 p.m. and got SO much accomplished. Better than that - I had fun with my friends and ate a lot of good food. And survived the snake. :)
