Monthiversary 30

Yesterday was a big day in Shafferland! Thirty months of marriage, you guys!!! I sit back and marvel at every one...can't believe how much has transpired in the last 30 months and I am not the least bit tired of or used to the wonder that is marriage!

I started out the day by going to the dentist, because nothing says "Let's celebrate love" like having your mouth picked apart! Actually the visit went very well. It was my 9 month checkup from having my dental surgery last summer, and I'm happy to report that I'm making good progress. She worked on me for about an hour and said she can't wait to see me for the one year mark to see how much progress I make by then! {Side note...the front office staff still remembers my first phone call. I'm not sure that's a good thing. I'm growing up though. Smiled all the way through this appointment and no tears!}

So our day was largely spent apart. I worked hard to schedule guests so Lynne's all set for shows for a good few weeks after my last day, and Ryan worked hard training the student working with him right now, and we barely even got to exchange texts throughout the day. That is sad indeed.

On the way home, I proposed that we enjoy the nice evening by building a fire in the fire pit and roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. Sounded fun to me! Ryan agreed, so we had that to look forward to when we got home.

But before we even got to that, we had some fun excitement waiting for us! Our podcasting equipment arrived! Yes, that's right! We've decided we are going to miss radio so much, we're going to try our hand at podcasting so we can spend more time with you! I think it should be an easy transition...what do you think?

Okay, so maybe there's a learning curve with this. But we'll figure it out, and we're very excited to give this a try.

So we're excited for that and hope you are too!!

After trying out all that stuff, we got busy making a fire for our hot dogs.
You'll notice he started this project with a smile, but it quickly turned...
BECAUSE THIS FIRE WOULD NOT STAY LIT! After about a half hour of work, it looked as you see below. Betrothing.
He finally got it going a bit, after way too much lighter fluid. We gave up on roasting the hot dogs and grilled them instead. We had enough coals to do the s'mores.

And while we waited...we did our pictures:
Our grilled hot dogs were delish, and we had fun making s'mores and drinking coffee beside our pathetic smoking fire.

My dear Ryan...thank you for thirty glorious months of marriage. Thank you for making every day an adventure, for making me laugh every day, for leading us in prayer and Bible study, for holding me when I'm sad, for being my sounding board, for sharing your stories with me, and for showing me more love every day than I ever knew a person could feel. You are my joy and I thank God every day for your life and for the way you love me.

Love,

Your wife of thirty months. :)

Bekah, You'll find that as the months and years continue to fly, you will be more in love than you ever thought possible, *and* that love will only deepen. I'm so very grateful to the Lord for these nearly 30 years (June 15th) that I've had with my sweet David. What a precious godly man! Blessings to you both, Lisa

Anonymous - Happy 432nd Monthiversary a little early!!! That's so exciting! I want one of those one day! In about 27 years. :) And on that note, a HUGE congratulations on 36 years!!!

Lesley - You sure can! Provided we are smart enough to figure out the equipment. That might end up being the subject of the first podcast. LOL!!!

Lisa - Thank you for those encouraging words! That's exactly what I'm hoping for!! Congratulations a little early on 30 years!! :)
