I Know Disco??????

This was NOT the week I expected to know songs. What does this say about me? Don't answer that. I can't handle the truth.

So it was Disco night on Idol, and I have reached the conclusion that we're at the point in the competition where I love the ones I love no matter what they do (or don't do) and I don't love the ones I don't love no matter what they do (or don't do). So here comes my totally biased recap.

Lil - I'm Every Woman is a song I knew. My first thought about her was WOW, that is a tight outfit - followed by WOW, I don't think she should be wearing it! I didn't think it was all that great - but I am so not a Lil fan, so I don't think I'd like anything she sang, and I'm very sorry about that. I do think Kara hit it right on the head when she said that Lil HAS been every woman - every week - and has never been herself.

Kris - I knew this song too - and I wasn't a big fan of the slow arrangement, but I LOVE Kris, so it was quite alright with me. According to the judges, the arrangement was great - so what do I know? I was a bit disturbed by Paula's analogy of shopping in the ladies' department.

Danny - I just love Danny. I didn't really love the song itself, but I love Danny and I loved it that everyone but Simon loved him. I didn't like Simon's thought that he didn't have star power. 1) yes he did! 2) it's DISCO night!!! It's not really star power night for most!

Allison - I did NOT love the outfit. I thought she might break her neck in those shoes and once again...way too tight on the clothing. But MAN she can sing and like the judges said - no matter what she does, she rocks. Literally.

Adam - I love Adam when he's normal and not screeching and strange. I truly, truly do. He got a little screamy in the middle of the song, but like Allison, I think he is great no matter what. But can he wear the suit every week?

Matt - I happened to like it. Maybe it was because I knew the song - maybe because it was fun after some different, less disco-y sounds. Dunno. But I did like it. Having said that, I'm a little bit afraid for him.

Anoop - I was with Simon on this one. I did not love the outfit and I thought the song was on the down side of "ehhhh." His face after he finished singing said that he knew the end was rough. I am not sure why the rest of the judges loved it SO MUCH.

My bottom 3 would be Lil, Anoop, and Matt. I think Lil will go home - and I WANT Anoop to be the other one to go home. I truly don't know who has more fans between Anoop and Matt. I think it will come down to that.

Bekah,

I SOOOOOOOO wanted to phone you tonight at the end of AI and compare notes! ;-)

I lived through (and survived) the Disco craze. (ugh!) I agree with some of what you said, as usual.

LIL - great pipes, but nothing a few hotel lounge act don't have. Wrong song for sure.

KRIS - Oh YEAH!!! It reminded me a bit of the Doobie Brother's, a bit of reggae, and just good stuff!

DANNY - I must have a one track mind tonight because although Danny started a little rocky, he was doing the good ol' Michael McDonald soul mixed with pop sound and it was really good! Yeah Danny!

ALLISON - Contrary to what the judges said, I just loved her starting slow and mixing it up a bit and she definately put it to her own style. I actually (gasp!) agreed with Paula on that! Ms. Iraheta has a career after AI regardless if she wins or not. The natural talent and ability to work with the songs is amazing for a 16 year old! I'm pulling for you Allison!

ADAM - You know, I wonder if he is taking some sort of hormones for his voice to be so high pitched, even when speaking. I do not see him as some special something tonight. "If I Can't Have You" has been done and redone and recorded and released and re-released and well - he didn't do anything that hasn't really already been done. His theatric ability is up there with Catherine McPhee and others who are on broadway now. I do not think Danny can bring in long term sales like others have. Compared to Kris and Danny, it's like Michael vs. Michael. Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers vs. Michael Jackson, i.e. lower, rich register vs. high pitched squelching.

MATT: Really good! I liked what he did with the song and how he sang it. Glad he was saved.

ANOOP: I admire his courage to wear pink! His vocals were good. His arrangement was risky, and it had good and bad to it. Not being able to hold that last note disappointed him. It was ok.

Bottom three: Lil, Anoop, and Allison :(

Who goes home? Lil and Anoop

First off I have a new post! I know you're probably in shock.

As for Idol, I agree with Randy this is a great top 7 this year! I am really hoping it comes down to Adam, danny, Kris, and Allison.

As for tonight, Lil was bad but I do feel sorry for her it's almost like she can't win, I don't see her staying. Anoop was awful, and some of those notes OUCH! Matt, wasn't much better but hey he gave it a try, and I think America will keep him after the save.

I don't like Adam, but he was good tonight, he's just a little too much for me. Danny seems like a one trick pony, and I agreed with Simon, I am just glad he isn't harping on his dead wife still. Loved Kris he was my favorite of the night the way he took that song and changed it was awesome, but I didn't think it was Disco. Allison, I still can't believe she's only 16, she's really talented.

Bottom three Anoop, Matt, and Lil Bye bye Lil, Anoop do we agree again?? CRAZY! :)

PS I finally finished that roll of film from gamenight, now just need to find a time to get in and developed

Short and sweet...I agree with Bekah!

Lil, Anoop and Matt should be the bottom three.

Lil and Anoop have outlived their usefulness, although fan base might surprise me between Anoop and Matt.

My top 4 from early on...Adam, Danny, Allison and Kris.

Still love Adam's voice and versatility.

I knew you would be excited about Adam's suit the minute I saw him wearing it. He DOES look much better when he cleans up and does ballads!
I agree with you on the bottom 3, but I would rather see Anoop stay and Matt go home. I've never been a fan.

LOL you should have, Tsofah!! We could write the blog post together. I"m watching the results show now.....and I'm so nervous for Allison!! But you called it on that bottom 3 - good for you!

Phats - i AM in shock! Both that you blogged....and that you are done with that film!

Christina - can i still say it cracks me up that you like adam so much? i mean that with much love, too! :)

Sarah - what does it say about me that i only like him in suits??? Do I even want to know?

Bekah,

Can't call you, don't have the phone number! (grin!)

I was very nervous for Allison too. Don't understand why she's in the bottom three so often, but it happens!

Also, last night, (forgot who it was), one of the female disco diva's had on an outfit that was so short I thought I'd find out if SHE work boxers or briefs! And, her top was about three sizes too small. (excuse me for being so crass, but I was afraid the "boob" was gonna be on the "tube".)

Sigh, modesty must be a lost art for some!
