Cookout at Bekah's!

This weekend was tough. I had a lot going on in my mind, and I spent much of the weekend in solitude and prayer.

And by last night, I needed people. Bless Ronda and Jonathan's little hearts - they'd had a super busy weekend but made time to come over and have an impromptu cookout with me!

I fired up the fire pit...for the first time in two summers. (Didn't care about cookouts last year.) I had actually never successfully started a fire before. Pretty proud of this!
It was a simple cookout - just hot dogs and watermelon - and, of course, s'mores for dessert! With Jonathan there, I didn't see the need to do my own grilling. He did a fine job of manning the grill.

Ronda - who deserves about a dozen gold medals for putting up with me this weekend. What an encouragement she is!

I broke out the s'mores - and um....caught my marshmallow on fire. WOOPS.

First s'more of the season. YUM. It had two marshmallows and half a chocolate bar. I don't believe in skimping on dessert.

Little messy - but totally worth it.

Had to get Jonathan back for taking a picture of me with s'more guts everywhere.

Time for round two!!

I LOVED having them over and being able to share and laugh - and not think about everything that had consumed me all weekend. What a blessing they are to me. (And it was nice to have a day without rain so we could actually light a fire!!)

Those S'mores look so good! My son just saw a picture of S'mores yesterday and said, "What's that?" I about had a heart attack! My own child doesn't know what S'mores are! I'll have to remedy that soon! :)

We have to wait for rain to light a fire!! And you're SUPPOSED to burn the marshmallows. That's the only way I can eat them.--Lori

Sarah - Oh goodness YES - you must remedy that. Love me a good s'more!!!

Lori - I like them lightly browned - and melted on the inside. If you come here to help me hunt - I'll burn you some s'mores
