It started with sleeping in, which is one of my favorite things in LIFE. We had some of our leftover Duck Donuts for breakfast (and coffee, of course). We took our time getting ready and shortly before lunchtime, we headed out for all kinds of adventures.
We had lunch at Skyline Chili. We don't have any of those super close to us, so we try to stop at one whenever we can!
Delish!
Next up was one of my picks for the trip. A few months ago, one of my friends who lives in Cincinnati posted pictures of her trip to the American Sign Museum. It looked fascinating to me, so I told Ryan I really wanted to go! The museum (according to its website) is the largest public museum dedicated to signs and contains more than 100 years of American sign history.
My favorite part of the place was how they had it set up; most of it looked like an old fashioned main street. The only things I didn't really love about it were that it was much smaller than I anticipated (so we were done WAY sooner than we had time-budgeted) and the price was kind of high for no bigger than it was. I feel bad saying that, because many of the signs are neon signs, so I know they probably have high bills to cover with the admission fee. Maybe going to the four-building museum the day before - for free - spoiled us.
Regardless, the visit was fun, and I don't regret going! Want to see some of the pictures?
(The "Gross" over Ryan's head is not a reflection on my thoughts about him.)
That's my kinda burger!
There's a sign I recognize!
Hee hee hee.
Ahhhh the HoJo's.
This sign reminded us of the vintage McDonald's sign we saw on our Delaware County tour a few years ago!
Legal, of course.
A fun sign...
Mmmmmm…...
This isn't my finest photo, but I had to get one with it. Swain was a name in my family! We had a furniture company????
A bit of the street view...
Even though it was smaller than we realized, we did have a good time, and it was fun to learn more about neon signs!
We also window shopped for a while at one of our favorite places: At Home.
And THEN it was time for our big adventure. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow!

So fun! What amazing old signs!
I would love to visit this place. It feels a little bit like The Hammer Museum we saw in Haines, Alaska this past summer -- quirky, small, but fun!
