Also in the podcast, I shared a couple of things that I learned from Don Piper's talks. Really powerful lessons that I appreciated and felt challenged by.
But today I wanted to tell you about another thing I learned that was really challenging to me.
I was sitting in a workshop about the different kinds of publishing that exist (self, custom, and traditional) and the presenter said that regardless of the path you take, you should always ask yourself this question: am I growing?
I'm pretty sure she meant in terms of growing as an author and growing in platform, but as I look back on that session and that question, I'm convicted.
Am I growing?
Am I growing in Christ? Am I growing in my passions? Am I growing in skills? Am I growing in creativity? Am I growing in ministry?
Am I growing in _________________? (Fill in your own blank there.)
One of the things I loved about the chance to go to a conference was the chance to learn. I am always trying to learn, but that was a three day intensive in gulping knowledge. It was a reminder that I have so much to absorb, and if I ever become stagnant, I'm doing a disservice to myself and my future.
And that's not just a thing for writers and speakers.
That's a thing for people.
So it's a good question for you, too! Are you growing? In whatever way(s) you can think of, are you growing?

I believe I'm growing. I think that (generally speaking), when you're intentional about an area, whether it's faith or a particular skill, and you diligently seek ways to improve upon that area, you're going to grow. Whether it's by reading books about the area or seeking advice from people who are ahead of you in that area, I can't imagine that you wouldn't grow.
Such great points and questions!!
