I was going to write a different post today, but it's currently (ha! see what I did there) 10:43 p.m. and I still have to read two chapters in my book for work, read my Bible study, journal, and finish my water intake, so I'm not going to have time to really think through that post like I wanted to. I'll save it for another day, and instead, I'm hopping on the Currently...post that Anne does over at her blog. Natasha joined up yesterday too!
As for life here in Shafferland, we are
...beginning...a three day weekend, and we're so very, very grateful for it. We just came off a seven day work stretch, and though it wasn't bad by any means, the days in that stretch were extra long and we are excited to have a break! We already have the entire thing planned out - in true Shaffer fashion.
...feeling...a little sore after launching back into daily workouts. It's not horrible. I've definitely felt much worse after re-entering workouts after a break, but my upper arms and upper legs are protesting a bit. I'm also feeling really excited that I've been able to make time for these workouts throughout this last week's work stretch. I've done a few of them super late at night, simply because that was the only time I had left, but I got them done!
...organizing...the whole apartment. Ryan and I took down the last of Christmas last night - and got it all packed away in tubs. But now the house has to be reassembled. I've kept out some of the plain smaller trees for winter decor, and I need to put back all the regular pictures and items I took down from shelves to make room for Christmas. This is one of my goals for our stretch off work. I want to put the place back together so it can start to feel like a new year!
...resolving...to continue restructuring our days so we have a better work life/personal life balance. Pretty much everyone who works in a role like ours told us it would be really hard to figure out, and we learned that they were all telling the truth! We're still learning when we need to put aside our own plans to make time for things that spring up at work and when we need to enforce strong boundaries to protect our own time. It's a constantly moving target, and what works one day may not work the next. But we're determined to keep working on it!
...wondering...what God has ahead for us in this work we're doing. One day at a time, I know. But we've had several planning meetings over the last week, and it just makes me curious to see what He's up to here at WillowBridge, with team and tenants alike!
How about you? Any answers to any of these?

Yay for 3 day weekend. Can't wait to hear what you do.
Work life balance is so hard!!! I bet even harder when you live and work under the same roof!
Be sure to include rest in your plans!
I'm feeling . . some hip pain. I was on my feet so much on Monday and Tuesday at work, and got about 4,000 more steps than I usually do, but I started getting hip pain because of it. It started feeling better last night, so I'm very thankful for that.
I'm going to take down my Christmas décor this weekend. (Normally I'm a major procrastinator and leave it up til mid to late January . . . sometimes February. I have some winter décor I'm going to put out, and I also did a couple of winter décor craft projects, and hope to do a couple more. I've been watching a ton of crafting videos on YouTube. It's been good to get back into crafting . . . it keeps my hands from putting food in my mouth! :)
For about the past ten years, we have mostly lived where we work and our residents, in every place we have lived during this time, have not understood our time off. Most often we have had to get away to have some down time. The down time is necessary, but is hard to protect. We purchased a fishing boat this past summer and it has helped with the down time. God always meets our needs, not always when we want nor how we would have planned it, but He always is with us.
My best advice is to be protective of your time, but also know there are times when you will need to allow work to encroach on that time as well.
Praying for you.
Tamar - Day one was a success with a lot of fun built in! :)
Tracy - We DEFINITELY scheduled in rest. Absolutely. Boo for hip pain! I hear that is no fun. I've not had that one (yet) but if genetics are any indication, I'll get there eventually. Happy crafting!
Gaylene - Sounds like we have a lot of similarities with different age groups! I can see how the fishing boat would help!! That's why we got the kayak and the RV...giving us a place to go when we aren't working...in warmer months, anyway. :) You give sound advice there. Much love!
I like all your plans. I need to get some house organization/cleaning done so I should probably resolve to move that higher up on the list.
Natasha - That one is always a revolving plan, isn't it? Organization never ends - at least around here!
Good for you on the end of the day workout! And good luck with the reassembling after Christmas. We just took down our Nativity today, the rest has been down for a week. And although I am fairly confident all Christmas stuff is put away, I have the nagging feeling that not all the normal stuff has been returned to its rightful spot. Maybe if I purposely rearrange all the bits and bobs, if won't matter if some of the old never surfaces - and I can pretend that was the plan all along. Whad'ya think?
Susanne - I think it's a brilliant plan! Are you also like me in continuing to hunt all over the house for the one tiny Christmas decoration that got missed?? I think I found the last one, but I'm about as confident as you are about all the normal stuff being back in its rightful spot...
