...some of you will understand this. Others of you will roll your eyes. It's okay. I will pray for you.
I searched for literally years to find the perfect day planner. Yes, I use a paper day planner. I do not have my life saved in a phone or on a Blackberry or in an Outlook program - because you see, those things can crash. And if they belong to me, chances are good that at some critical moment in time, they will. I love all things paper. I love paper books. I love paper scrapbooks. I love letters in the mail. I love cards. And I love a paper day planner.
You're not going to change my mind on it, so don't even try.
Just over a year ago, I had the most miraculous day-planner moment when I found the perfect day planner. It was an 18 month planner too - even better. I have been using it faithfully for a year and still have a few months left on it.
Because my OCD requires me to plan ahead, I got online to find a refill for my perfect day planner - which, by the way, is in the cutest pink binder.
They
stopped
making
my
planner.
I have no words that adequately express my disappointment in the day planner business as a whole.
I found one that might work as a close second, so I've bookmarked it in hopes that with time, I will learn to love it as much as I love this one.
It's true that I dropped out of my marketing class in college and am therefore not equipped to speak as an expert on this subject, but allow me to say...I'm saddened that the mentality of marketing newer, better, different planners has left me without the one perfect planner I ever found in my whole life.
So for now, I will cherish my final weeks in my faithful pink planner. Sniff

I totally "get" that! Why can't they just leave a good thing alone! I will observe a moment of silence for your soon-to-be-departed planner. ;)
you are so right. two months ago wal mart apparently stopped making the kitty litter that FINALLY provided a budget-friendly solution to a two-cat home. so now i have to pay BIG bucks for something that honestly doesn't work as well. Before that, mary kay discontinued one of my favorite lipsticks. sigh. I miss my faves!!!
Perhaps we'll have to add to our list of oddities by becoming pack rats? Every time we find a product we like, we'll buy 20 and store them in boxes in our living rooms (b/c we don't have enough storage space for all that. I'm sure that will work . . . except for the day planners . . . because 20 2009 day planners are just not that handy. Unless you want to be REALLY organized!
sorry I forgot my ")" bugs me when ppl do that!
LOL I always forget the ) so no worries. You're right. And then when we're 80, clean house will show up with all their cameras and we'll be the episode of crazy old ladies who stocked up their whole lives because they couldn't handle change. It'll be GREAT
I feel your pain (though not about planners). I have mourned greatly when Trader Joe's discontinued: a) Shortbread Bobbie cookies; b) the world's best chai teabags (blogged about that one!); c) Chevalier Noir cookies (similar to Lu brand's Petit Ecolier cookies, only way cheaper).
It's crushing when you learn that something as fundamental to your life as gravity (that is how important your planner is, right?) would suddenly be discontinued, leaving you unable to stand firmly on solid ground.
I hope your new planner works out well for you.
I think we may also have to invest in several dozen cats . . . just to round out the picture ;)
Sometimes they just don't know when to leave well enough alone, do they?
I hope you do find a really great day planner to comfort you.
Skyepuppy - While I'm sorry for your losses too, I'm so glad you feel my pain. I come to count on those things I love so much and when they change them - rrrrrrrrr.
Julie - NO MORE CATS FOR ME!!!! Can't afford them...and can't afford to become the crazy cat lady!
Tsofah - Amen sister, and I hope I do too. I'm going to just HOPE that as we get closer to the start of the year, I'll happen upon the second most perfect one. One great consolation: I'll have to do lots of shopping!!! :D
