Today was my "no" day. I have one of those every month. I don't make plans with anyone...I don't schedule any appointments...I don't even have to do my hair if I don't feel like it. It's just a day to rest up and do whatever I want...or not do anything and not feel guilty about it.
So today I read half a book...did a couple of scrapbook pages...made some little bird nest things (from chocolate and chow mein noodles) for the family Easter lunch tomorrow...talked on the phone...watched some TV...exercised...fixed the shower head so it would work better...sorted pictures...
And somewhere in the middle of all that, I saw the Wal-Mart commercial. Three times. A happy little tune played while all these chipper looking checkout people happily scanned items and bagged them and smiled lovingly at one another across the cash registers. The lines were refreshingly short and just as they started to get too long (too long being over two carts waiting), more eager employees rushed to open new lanes, sporting big smiles as they welcomed weary shoppers to their aisle.
WHERE IS THIS WAL MART? I want to shop there.

I'm sure you know this, but every retail store (Target, Marsh, Walmart) has this rule of thumb that the checkout lanes can't have more than three people in it at a time. This is why the commercial does what it does after two people in line. It is unfortunate that our Walmart doesn't seem to handle this problem very well because they are trying to use a small staff to do too much.
Also, an FYI, the same goes for all the fast food restaurants. Listen carefully sometime while at a McDonalds or Taco Bell, etc. They will say something like "Danger Zone" to notify the back that there is a lot of customers and we aren't getting the food out fast enough.
Happy Easter!
The Wal-Mart advertised on TV is NOT in El Paso. Just in case you were wondering. :)
Happy Easter!
I got chewed out by another customer at Target for going to the checkout line that just opened up, when there was a really long line at another register where people had been waiting for 15 minutes. I'm not sure what she wanted me to do.
I stayed polite, because if she saw me in the parking lot, I had my church's sticker on it. But I stewed about it all the way home.
it doesn't exist.
Chris - I actually didn't know that. I'd of course heard rumor of it from Marsh commercials in days of yore, but I didn't think it actually HAPPENED.
Yesterday when I went to BK, the poor manager (whom I love...I always know everything's in good hands when I see her working) was doing it all. Apparently about 80% of her staff failed to report for duty. I saw two people on food prep, one lady on drive through, and she was at the register. And usually there are about a dozen people working hte lunch shift there. I'd say she was in a danger zone. But she did a great job anyway.
Amy - Good to know. I will not come to El Paso looking for it.
Skyepuppy - I feel your pain on the car sticker thing. Maybe I wrote this before, but one time I was so exasperated as I drove the wal mart parking lot that i took my work hangtag out of my window so as not to be a bad rep of the school...and in my haste, I accidentally brought down the entire rearview mirror with it. WOOPS.
Sarah - I agree.
