Today is our 146th monthiversary, and I am
excited to get to spend the whole day with Ryan. Those are always my
favorite monthiversaries! The week leading up to today has been busy, but we
have also had a few fun adventures together, and I’m grateful for them. Here is
a little peek at the push and pull of our final week in January!
Even though we have been milling wheat for about a
year and a half, there are still several recipes we haven’t tried yet, and
pancakes fell into that category until this week! We finally tried our hand at
making them with freshly milled wheat. We have some tweaking to do to make them
fluffier, but the taste was so good, and I appreciated knowing the ingredients
were healthy! Also – it really is true that the carb crash that always
comes from pancakes was not present with this recipe.
The Bible study I help lead started a new round this
week, and we had a great group with lots of discussion. I always learn
so much from their insights, and this week was no exception. We are diving into
the topic of prayer, and I came away challenged to be more intentional in my
own prayer life. Stay tuned, because there will probably be some posts born out
of this time of learning. (Sweet bonus? Coming home to Lexi’s wild joy! It was
like she hadn’t seen me for six months.)
What a sweet surprise it was to receive a gift
delivered right to my porch this week. One of you, my sweet friends, sent me
the little pencil case for my mobile office! Thank you so much for your
kindness and for completing my office bag. The case is as perfect in person as
I thought it might be, and the kindness behind the surprise was the best gift
of all.
I never tire of taking pictures of our sweet Lexi
Grae. I love her photogenic little face, and it cracks me up that even though
she’s a dog, she literally gets exasperated with the photo shoots just like a child
would. It always makes me giggle. Here are some of my favorite Lexi portraits
from this week.
I bought a little bunch of flowers at Walmart so I
could fill the tiny vase on my desk at the church. That vase is so tiny, it
could only hold half the bunch. On a whim, I ended up tucking the other half
into the candles on the kitchen island, and suddenly that little vignette felt
complete to me. It makes me happy every time I see it. (Here’s a peek at my
desk too, so you can see the other half of the bunch.)
Friday night, Ryan and I went on a little date that
I will tell you more about next week, but we had the best time touring
some RVs in Fort Wayne. Last year we did this same date – rather on the fly –
and had so much fun that we wanted to do it again this year. Dreaming is always
fun, and this gave us just that. (A lot of other people were out dreaming this
year too, so we had to dream quickly…)
Yesterday we were able to have a Sabbath at home
during the first part of the day, and it was welcomed and lovely. Slow coffee
drinking, lots of writing (for me), a chance to cook from scratch, and some
much-needed naps. Truly one of my favorite moments of the entire week.
Thanks for peeking into our week. Hope you enjoyed! And happy
monthiversary, Ryan. I’m excited to spend today with you!
