This was a LONG week for us. Not a
bad one. Just terribly, terribly long. Maybe it was the same for you! I hope
you have a minute or two to sit and catch your breath this weekend! If you do,
here are some ideas to check out while you rest!
ONE.
I told you on Monday that one of my goals for this month is
to decorate for spring. I already started, but I have some more touches to add.
I saw that Kari Anne blogged about outdoor
rugs, and I wanted to save her ideas! I’ve
toyed with getting a bigger rug for our front porch this year just to give it a
little extra color and personality. I’m not sure if I’ll do it or not, but
I want to remember her suggestions, just in case!
TWO.
Ryan and I went on that coffee date last Saturday to
celebrate our monthiversary. We love (especially in this very busy season of
our lives) just going out and simply being. Sitting together, talking,
enjoying. We don’t have to have an agenda, and I love that. But I do
acknowledge that sometimes it’s fun to have something to do during time at a
coffee shop. I found this post with lots of free/cheap ideas of date activities at a
coffee shop. I confess I’d be too chicken to do some in public. (Minute to Win
It games, for example…) But the escape room? The bucket lists? Those sound fun!
Check it out! Also…we have done an event night at a coffee shop, several years
ago, and it was fun. And we have done a coffee shop crawl, though not in this
county. Great ideas!
THREE:
Tamar reminded me this week that I should be adding drops
of oil to my wool dryer balls. I don’t keep my oils near the laundry area, so I
always forget to add them! But her reminder fit in well with this list I ran across this week – recipes for using oils in home/beauty items.
I’ve made some of these before, but it’s a fantastic list of recipes all in one
place!
FOUR:
Easter is the very last day of this month, and if you’re
hosting any little spring/Easter gatherings in your home, here is a super cute idea for an easy, DIY gift bag with a “bunny tails” theme. I know that
bunnies have nothing to do with the true meaning of Easter, but they’re still cute
and springy, as is this little gift idea. (Great, too, for coworkers or friends
you might want to surprise with a little
pick-me-up.) BONUS: If you’re looking for something with more of a
true-meaning-of-Easter theme, how about this Easter story snack mix? It looks delicious!
FIVE:
I tried a new-to-me recipe this week and was skeptical, but
I ended up loving it. It was this green smoothie bowl. My skepticism came in because I’m not a huge fan of mango. I’m
still new to them, but it’s more of a texture thing for me than a flavor thing.
And the same is true for bananas. But I decided to try it, and WHOA. Good. The
mango, banana, spinach, milk, and yogurt all go in a blender and to be honest,
I couldn’t really pick out an overwhelming flavor inside the smoothie itself. It
was cold and sweet and good enough for me! I put a little extra banana and
still-mostly-frozen mango on top with a little coconut, and it was a sweet and
filling breakfast. A keeper! BONUS: Another new one for me/us this week
was thisbaked chicken thighs with brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. I knew I
liked all those things, but cooking the chicken over the sprouts gave them
extra flavor, and that was a win. Ryan LOVED THIS. (He puts up with chicken
breasts most of the time for my sake, so he gets a little giddy when we have
chicken thighs instead.)
SIX.
No link for you on this one. Just my annual defeated reminder
that we lose an hour of sleep tonight. See you extra early tomorrow morning.
And Indiana, can we step up that bill we’ve been hearing about for the past 20
years that would call a halt to this time change thing?
BONUS:
I’m hoping to be near the end of my
winter capsule combinations. Spring one is underway, and hopefully…so is spring
itself! But in the meantime, here’s another round of winter combos.
