But I also determined that part of the joy of this season and its accompanying flexibility is the opportunity to take "vacation time" and "sick days" as needed. I don't want to get so caught up in working and marking things off my checklist that I don't take time to rest and rejuvenate when needed.
So I think it's a pretty fair start that last week involved two work days and three vacation days! I already told you about Sisters' Day Out last Wednesday, but I wanted to show you some of the fun from the rest of the week as well It's a rare treat that Lori comes to visit, so when she does, I like to spend as much time with her as I can!
Braeya was excited for a new friend in the house...
{I believe that is her "please stop taking pictures during my back rub" face.}
Lori and I visited Cato and actually lost all track of time while shopping. We were late to lunch with Mom and Dad. WHOOPSIE!
We went to visit my nephew's grave...
Mom wanted to take us to this cute little restaurant in Kokomo {called Gabetta's}, and it worked out that Ryan had a long lunch that day and he got to join us too!
And then it was an afternoon of shopping for the girls...where I managed to avoid spending a dime, and instead texted my love to Ryan.
Also...why are these back????
Friday night, we tried to have a hot dog roast in my parents' backyard. Dad certainly succeeded with ample kindling for the fire:
Ryan found it to be a little on the warm side for the actual roasting.
After all that, we were forced to eat inside because it started to rain AGAIN while Ryan cooked the hot dogs.
And we had lunch together on Sunday as well...but I didn't take any pictures of that. Too busy stuffing my face with food!!
I did get a going-away picture with Lori, though.
Such a fun visit - and I remain highly grateful for the flexibility to spend time with her! I am keeping careful track of the many blessings I'm already seeing out of this season of life, and time with her was one of them!

Having a sister that lives far away I totally understand the joy of time together! Glad you had a great time.
Thanks so much! We sure did!
I like the picture in the restaurant where your dad is leaning into your mom, sort of like teens do when they want to make sure that they're in the picture and not left out of it!! I'm sure you weren't going to leave him out of it, lol! I, too, have been blessed with the gift of time at home but don't think I've been as intentional about keeping track of the many blessings from this season as I should be. Great reminder to do just that.
They were actually both protesting that picture quite a bit {no point when I'm around because THE PICTURE IS BEING TAKEN SO YOU BETTER JUST SMILE!!!!} but I thought it turned out pretty great! :) I am writing down the blessings every day because I know if I don't, I'll miss them. I'm so good at missing stuff.
I love that old hymn, "Count your Blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done!" So very true! I'm glad you got to spend time with your sisters. Family is important. My sister only lives an hour away, but I rarely see her. And just like my sister and I, to me, you and your sisters don't look a thing alike. At my wedding (I was 25 and my sister was 17), someone asked my sister how long she had known the bride! LOL We still laugh about that one. If you don't mind me asking, what is the age difference between you and your sisters? Lisa
I love the picture of you and Lori in your 'bridesmaid' outfits!! Sisters are so much fun. Lois
Lisa - Sure!! I was a surprise baby, so my sisters are 15 and 18 years older. I was born on Mother's Day, and one week later, my oldest sister (the one who came to visit this week) graduated from high school. Mom had a bit of a busy month. HA!!
Lois - let me tell YOU! Those dresses are THE most comfy bridesmaid dresses ever. Like jammies, I tell you. :)
I love that you are counting the blessings of this season of life. I should start doing that as I enter my new season. It's good to be reminded of that.
