I did what I SWORE I'd never do again. I waited until the day before Easter to shop for a dress. It wasn't procrastination as much as it just was...busyness.
Saturday morning, Ryan and I set out on a dress-shopping adventure, after first stopping by Starbucks. Ryan was due for his free birthday drink, which he was REALLY excited about.
Notice all the instructions on the side of the cup? Yep. We're those customers.
We went to Kokomo and shopped...and shopped...and shopped...and I nearly gave up finding a dress. Most things just didn't fit right {story of my life} and what did fit...was way too expensive. I am THE most ridiculously cheap person when it comes to spending money on clothes.
Just as I was about to give up...I found a dress that I liked and that fit...and best of all? Thirteen dollars. Bazinga.
So with the dress secured, Easter could begin. We got up early Easter morning to go to the early service at church, hoping it would be less crowded. Here was the final verdict on outfits:
Not bad, huh? Look at that handsome man I married! :)
Before we headed out to church, we exchanged Easter baskets.
In Ryan's...a sunshade for his car, a kite {just for fun}, a lint roller {because he goes through them like crazy...thank you black scrubs and cat hair}, some Reese eggs and a car battery charger. HA! He needed one of those for his little not-so-trusty truck...Old Trusty.
And he got me a surprise too!
A cloche!!! I have wanted one of these for the longest time...I am so excited!! :) And IN the cloche??? Caramel Cadbury eggs. :)
{Side note: I told the morning guys on the air this week that Ryan got me a cloche jar. Of course they stared at me like I'd just spoken a foreign language. I asked if they knew what those were, and Jim said, "Oh sure....so like when it's all the way over there, it's a far away jar, and when it's right next to you, it's a cloche jar?" This is what I work with every day. HA!}
We went to church, and service was wonderful...and the day was just SO lovely. It felt like a perfect, celebratory Easter morning. When we came home, I assembled the macaroni and cheese for lunch at my parents' house, and we had some time to kill, so we went outside for a few more pictures.
Since we did Easter with Ryan's family last year, we spent it with my family this year. Headed to the old home place!
This year, Easter included my parents, Ryan and me, my sister Julie, my Aunt B, my cousin Doug, and my parents' friend and neighbor, Sandy.
Mom made a great lunch, and we all gathered around the table to eat and tell stories. Lots of laughs - and lots of fun!
After lunch, Mom and Julie gave Ryan his birthday gifts, since they wouldn't see him again before his birthday.
K-cups and gift cards make for a happy birthday boy!!
A couple of family pics for the day:
Julie and me with Mom and Dad.
And the photo that feels like it was a pose for an oil painting. HA! With the Queen Mother. :)
So that was our Easter! Great day!

Have a great weekend!!!! I am off to Hobby Lobby today! eeeeeks! :)
XOXO
LOVE that dress- you rocked it!
Glad you had a great Easter!!
I am so glad we didn't miss dress shopping. It is one of my annual traditions to "guess the dress" (could that be a new reality TV show?). Lois
I don't always shop for an Easter dress, this year I did. Secured it in a record 20 minutes. Paid a little more than $13, but only $30. I can live with that. Of course at one of our favorite stores, Cato!
Polly - well thank you!! YOu should try a Cadbury Caramel Egg. Think a Caramello bar...in an egg. With 18 times as much caramel.
Tamar - Thank you! I was so relieved to find something cheap that fit! :)
Lois - I sorely missed the voting post this year. Maybe later in the year I can do a shopping extravaganza with a voting post?
Was that what you were wearing in the choir picture, Lynnette? If so, I LOVED IT!! Haven't seen that one at our Cato!
Hey, Lynnette, Cassie now lives just down the street from a Cato! Know where I'll be going on my visits!
I love that your dad NEVER smiles when his picture is taken!!
Anonymous - I keep forgetting to explain that on here! I'm so used to it, I forget about it. He's got this (apparently very rare) thing called Moebius syndrome, which is a facial paralysis that he was born with that means none of the muscles on his face work. He can't smile, blink, raise his eyebrows or anything else that requires muscle movement.
He was a school teacher and spoke at lots of churches too, in his life, and he always started out by explaining it because people would get fascinated and stare and not know if they should say something or not (he's TOTALLY fine with it and doesn't mind at all).
Here's the thing though. He CAN produce something of his version of a smile IF HE TRIES, and whenever I'm behind the camera, I make him try. I don't let him get away with the no smile business. But since I was IN those pictures, I didn't notice he wasn't giving it his best effort. I'm going to have to start remembering to yell from the other side of the picture, SMILE, DAD!!!!!!!
I love you dress!!! I never want to spend too much on clothes either so $13 is awesome! I'm glad you had a good Easter.
