The Shafferland Shuffle

* Last Sunday was a day filled with more Christmas celebration! After church, we had lunch with my friend Faith and her two girls...and then they all came over to our house for our gift exchange. Those girls had a blast with Ryan. It was really the first time they'd gotten to spend any time with him, so it was fun! And then that afternoon, my best friend, Lynnette and her husband Mark came for a visit. They live out east, so it was the first time we'd seen them since our wedding reception! Much fun, much food, many presents - a good day!

* Monday night, I picked up dinner from Eddie Merlot, which is this fancy pants restaurant in Fort Wayne. Far fancier than I ever eat. I'm more in Hardee's league. LOL. This was our dinner - which cost much more than Hardee's. But we had a gift card, so it only cost us five bucks! Ryan and I worked hard all night long - doing laundry, cleaning up the new beater car we bought, cleaning bathrooms, and working out. Welcome to new year's resolution-ville!

* Tuesday was, of course, New Year's Eve. I worked a half day and spent the rest of the day running around like a mad-woman, doing all sorts of chores. That night, as you saw earlier this week, Ryan and I packed up and headed to his friends' house for a New Year's Eve party. A busy but fun day wrapping up 2013!

* Wednesday, Ryan took the day off work and we got to sleep in, eat breakfast at home, and spend a little bit of time being leisurely before we headed out for a Starbucks date, a little shopping and then made our way over to his Mom's house. His family's rescheduled Christmas was actually New Year's Day, so we enjoyed one last family Christmas with them before calling it a season. Lots of yummy food {they do breakfast for Christmas} and fun presents!!

* Thursday was {are you ready for this?} our 13 month anniversary. Yeah. I'm the sap who isn't done counting yet. :) It took me 2 hours to get to work because of snow and slick roads - and then later that day, Ryan had to contend with a flat tire and a long, boring wait at the tire store. What a way to celebrate an anniversary, right? But we did have a great night at home eating pepperoni pizza chili, writing thank you notes, and dreaming about the future.

* Friday was my first day to engineer Mid-Morning in almost two weeks! Lynne had been on vacation and then sick, so it was  back to work! After we got home, we went out grocery shopping, along with the rest of the state, so we could be well prepared for the pending BIG STORM we're supposed to get! No bread to be had in this town! And because our shopping took us WAY longer than we intended, we also had a surprise impromptu dinner at KFC. YUM.
* Yesterday began with the first of our tour of Indiana counties. We went to Blackford County - and I'll tell you more about that tomorrow! The day was chilly, but not nearly as cold as temps are predicted to get in this next week, so we made the most of the day. Then we came home and finished taking down all the Christmas decorations and watched the Colts playoff game.

Oh yes, New Year's Resolutions-ville. What a fun place to visit. I hope to spend a lot of time there this year!

And I love that you are still counting your monthly anniversaries!

And I have to admit, there is something just as satisfying about cleaning up Christmas as there is decorating for Christmas.

Agreed on the cleaning up. I'll be ready for it again by next December, but for now I'm just happy to have my orderly house back! :)
