I know it's vindictive to smile that Sanjaya got the boot - but I'm relieved out of that particular bottom 3 that he was the one out.
Some things I found interesting about the results:
1. HOW did Blake end up in the bottom 3 over Chris?
2. I learned I wouldn't have been heartbroken had it been Lakisha going home. That surprised me. I like her. Maybe not as much as I thought.
3. Everyone seemed more upset to lose him than they had seemed last week when they lost Haley. For all his lack of singing talent (in comparison to the rest) - I bet he really was a fun guy for them to hang out with.
I am relieved he is gone - now it can be a real competition again. BUT, having said that, I am very impressed with the way he handled all the criticism on and off stage. Always with a smile, always with a genuinely sweet spirit. Good for you, Sanjaya.

I heard this morning on the radio that Sanjaya got voted off and I thought you would be pretty happy about it!
PS I'm loving Notes From The Underbelly!
I haven't seen last night's Notes yet - ironically I was at someone's house making invitations for a baby shower. :) But I can't wait to see it!!!
Bekah,
I have yet to see even one episode of this season's Idol, but I've been following it here. I like the way you described Sanjaya's exit ("always with a genuinely sweet spirit"). That's class. And class is something too many famous people lack completely.
His singing may not be outstanding, and his hair may be...everywhere, but his class will get him through life much better than most.
I don't feel bad at all, I was jumping up and down and soooo happy. I knew he was going when Simon made the I see something interesting happening. I was more mad about Phil and Chris avoiding the bottom three, and Blake being in it what!?
I do disagree with #3 though, and not just because I liked haley, when she got the boot EVERYONE was crying, when Sanjaya did just Lakisha cried. I read her interview for TV Guide Haley said that she bacme very close to Gina, Jordin, and Melinda and they are all invited to her wedding. I thought the crowd's reaction was more interesting, nobody booed they were cheering very LOUD! hahaha
Carly ratted you guys out, can't pull one on the master sorry! haha
Skyepuppy - Hopefully my opinions haven't gotten TOO much in the way and you can get a semi-accurate count of what is going on. Maybe I'm alone in thinking his exit classy (he did bawl...but I don't consider that killing the class) but I really thought he handled it with more grace than bitterness.
Phats - I would go back and watch it again but I've taped over it. I didn't remember everyone being terribly upset about it. I wouldn't say there were NO tears. It just seemed to me it was the least emotional exit from the view of the safety seats. But I have been wrong before and am willing to be wrong again.
Like the venerable Skyepuppy, I get my "Idol" news here.
...Which means I never-ever-ever have to watch it.
...For which can I thank you enough? No, I can't.
Wow - now I'm starting to feel really responsible for people's opinions!!
I'm glad that I can spare you those two hours a week so you can focus on more important things, which I, in turn, learn from your blog!
(From the influence I've gained from you and Skyepuppy and Christina, I've actually started to semi-watch the news. This is a very groundbreaking event in Bekahland. One that baffles me and frightens my parents.)
