Good morning, friends! This week has been a long one…not in
a bad way. It’s just that Father’s Day seems about 1000 years ago, not a week
ago. Anyone else? The week had its highs and lows, but I’m grateful for each of
the days. Here are some of the moments that stuck out most.
Last Sunday was Father’s Day, and as I shared cards
with those who have recently lost fathers…and read posts from Ryan’s sisters
about their father, who has passed away…I was grateful to get one more Father’s
Day with my dad.
We hosted the young ladies from the Bible study I help
teach for a night of fellowship by the lake. We ate snacks, talked on the
patio, and went for a pontoon ride before they headed home. It was fun to get
to share our home with them. I am pretty sure it was the first time any of them
had ever been here!
This week marked the end of an era: Ryan taught his
last Boot Camp class at the gym. Our schedules are just too unpredictable, and
we both knew it was time to say goodbye to this chapter. I’m grateful for it.
We made some new friends along the way, and it was a good discipline for us in
different ways. But I think we were both ready to say goodbye to it.
Our youth pastor asked me to share a little devotional thought at the youth group gathering this week. The day of the gathering was fraught with every conceivable delay and glitch, and I’d cried off all my makeup before noon. And then, on the way to the gathering, we were hit with a pretty bad storm, and the power was out when I arrived. We gathered in a dark living/dining room with candles everywhere and the front door open to let in some air, and we had mini-church anyway!
Ryan worked a golf outing for Swiss Village this week,
and he had so much fun doing it. I love it that he has the opportunities to
work events like this where his people-loving personality can shine so
brightly! Also…can we pause to appreciate the beauty of the charcuterie snacks
they made for the golfers??
Lexi has been extra cuddly this week. Not sure why,
and also not complaining! Ryan grabbed this picture of her sitting with me one
night, and it made me happy. Goodness, we love that little girl with our whole
hearts.
The work that we each do is filled with moments where we can make plans, and then we might have to abandon them to tend to those who need us. We had those moments this week. But we also had a little time to get away for some fun shopping and some grocery shopping. I love our outings, even if we are buying fish and almond milk. 😊
Here’s
to a new week! (And if you’re in the super hot part of the country this week,
please, oh please, be safe!
