Happy 129th monthiversary to us! I’m excited to have
this day (inside of a long weekend!) together with Ryan. Remember how I told
you yesterday we were going to have a goal of putting our kitchen back together
this month after the refrigerator came today? Yeah it’s not coming. Yesterday
they called to cancel. Try again in November. NOVEMBER!!!
Well, we’ll have a good day anyway. And here are a whole bunch
of fun things I found that have one key thing in common: Indiana!
ONE.
Ryan and I loved watching Shark Tank back in the day, but I
always manage to forget that Blondie’s Cookies, a little cookie shop from our
hometown of Greentown, was featured on that show years ago. This week, several
of my Facebook friends shared this
article about what’s happening in the world of Blondie’s Cookies now –
years after Shark Tank. I always love a good follow-up, so it was fun to read!
TWO.
Also featuring the great state of Indiana is this
article about a Mrs. Indiana competitor who recently became a solo thru-hiker
on the Appalachian trail! She started documenting her adventure on YouTube but all
the filming took up a lot of space on her phone, so she ended up completing her
documentation on Instagram. (You can click links to follow through for the
expanded stories.) I think this is an accomplishment for ANYONE, but it was fun
to read about it from her perspective. She’s braver than I would be!
THREE.
Earlier this week, one of my
church friends shared this
site that featured a visit to our county. But it turns out the whole site is
all about tenderloins around Indiana. I immediately had to send it to my
sister, who loves tenderloins and can’t get them where she lives. Fun to read
about different takes on the tenderloin!
FOUR.
When I was younger, I had some great Sunday School teachers who
really impacted my life. One of them, Carrie, taught me in the third grade. I
am still Facebook friends with her and get to keep up with the adventures of
her children (who are just a tiny bit younger than me) as they have grown into
adults with their own families. Her son Joel married a courageous young woman
named Lizzy, and I have been following her story for several years as she has battled
several rounds of cancer. This
update on her story was just released, and it shows her courage to make a
difficult decision and how well she has done following it!
FIVE.
Back in the years when we lived in Kokomo, we often drove by this
gorgeous house. It was on our way to almost everywhere. It was a tea room
and went up for sale near the end of our time in Kokomo. Someone bought it,
revamped the tea room, and I saw on social media this week that it’s up for
sale again. It’s still gorgeous and I hope it has lots of fruitful life left in
it. If you’re a house tour junkie, enjoy! (This is the first time I’ve ever
seen pictures of the guest house – also cute!)
SIX.
Do you remember when we lived in Marion and put a time capsule
in the house when we redid the flooring? I love the whole idea of a time
capsule. Greentown recently opened one as part of their 175th
birthday celebration. It had been assembled in 1998 during the 150th
celebration. I loved reading this
article about some of the items within. I well remember the tornado that
came through during that 150th celebration, and I remember going to
the play with Mom! Fun to read!

I ate at the tea room in Kokomo in summer 2022. So sorry to hear that it has closed as it was really great to eat in that gorgeous home.
NOVEMBER!? What is it the only fridge in the state!?
Time capsules are so fun!
