Believe it or not, we have come to the end (almost) of another month! I've gathered a few snippets of knowledge along the way this month, so I thought I would share them with you today!
1. You can use peanut butter to remove sticker adhesive from clothing.
Sounds crazy, doesn't it? But my sister says it works! She taught me this one earlier this month when her husband forgot to remove a store sticker from a piece of clothing. It went through the washer and dryer and then had a sticky mess that wouldn't come off. She did some searching, and while I don't know that this is the article she found, this is the information she uncovered, and she vouched for its accuracy!
2. In 1930, the Indiana Bell building was rotated 90 degrees - WHILE business continued as usual inside the building.
Say whattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt? I found this article this month and it blew my mind. I couldn't even imagine this happening today, let alone in 1930! And without any interruption to the services provided by the company OR to the service inside the building (electricity, plumbing, etc.). Seriously, HOW is this possible?? The time lapse of photographs is pretty cool.
3. Using parchment paper inside loaf pans is a GAME CHANGER.
I don't bake a ton of quick bread, but I'll make it now and then when I'm taking a meal to someone or going to a carry-in dinner. This month I made some zucchini bread to share at Love INC when a guy came to volunteer with us. My biggest issue with quick bread is that no matter what I do, part of the bread (usually the very middle) always gets stuck in the pan when I try to remove the loaf. This month I tried covering the inside of the loaf pan with parchment paper. The loaf lifted right out after baking, the paper peeled away, and it saved me ALL the headaches.
4. We should most definitely take our weighted blanket with us on every trip.
We went on that weekend getaway earlier this month and stayed at a hotel with my family. The bedding was extremely lightweight, and I could not sleep!! I'm so used to our weighted blanket. We typically don't mess with taking it with us on the road, but I think we'll be doing that from now on!
5. Kim Collingsworth's medley of songs from The Sound of Music took my breath away.
When we went to hear the Collingsworth family in concert earlier this month, Kim played a medley of songs from The Sound of Music. It was AMAZING. Watch it here if you haven't seen/heard it! I seriously almost cried from the beauty of it.
6. Updating your socks and underwear matters more than you'd think.
It seems that everything in my closet wore out at once, including socks and bras. I don't think I had any socks left that didn't have holes somewhere, and my feet were actually hurting inside my shoes from rubbing against said shoes. The bra situation was no better. All of mine were older and had underwires that were broken and poking out. OUCH. I hate spending money on stuff like this since it's all hidden beneath shoes and clothing, but I finally gave in and bought new. WHYYYYY didn't I do it sooner? I felt SO much better after!! Everything fits better, has way more life in it, and the truth of it is, what's under your clothing impacts how the clothing fits and looks!
Surely I learned more than these things, but these were the ones that made it onto the list. How about you? Did you learn anything this month?
