Back in June, I started writing every single day from specific writing prompts. I've told you about them before, but I haven't mentioned them lately. I do two prompts every day. One is random and one is from Scripture. I write for roughly ten minutes from each prompt, and this practice has become one of my favorite parts of the day. Even on the days when the random prompt feels like it doesn't apply to me at all, I have a lot of fun exploring the topic and seeing what comes out as I type.
The other day the prompt was this: describe your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day.
I could have answered in one word, and surprisingly it wasn't coffee. :)
Pinterest.
There are actually many things I enjoy doing at the end of the day, and often my days end with a combination of several things.
Though I am not really an app girl, I do have a word game app on my phone that I enjoy playing a few times each evening. Coming up with the words to complete the puzzle is a good exercise fro my brain.
Ryan and I have just started watching our way through the old TV show Without a Trace (how have we never watched it!?!?) and we like to see an episode or two of that if we have time.
Of course, we take Lexi for an evening walk if the weather is good, so that's part of our routine.
I do some writing, scrapbooking, Bible study, or reading - though typically not all of them in the same night.
But when EVERYTHING is done, I love to wind down with Pinterest.
I have so many boards that are completely random. Some are dreams and ideas that I absolutely know will never happen in my life, but they're still fun to build and learn about by searching for articles and ideas.
I can choose a topic and get lost in it for as long as I wish, and if it starts to bore me, I can put it aside and research something else.
I can find ideas for the Saturday Six...remodel a room in our house...style some outfits...open a restaurant...teach a class...get a whole new hairstyle...anything I want. And it's all free, and none of it is permanent.
Perhaps the real answer to the way I like to unwind at the end of a long day is dreaming. Pinterest is merely my dreaming outlet. But I love it, and I am thankful for all the grand ideas and even real experiences it has allowed me to know since I first found it a decade or so ago.
(Fun side note: I don't know when I first found Pinterest or started using it, but I do know that I did not have a board for our wedding, so even if I had an account then, I wasn't really immersed in it for wedding planning purposes!)
Anyway! How would you answer the writing prompt question? What is your favorite way to unwind at the end of the day?

When I was in the classroom, I lived on Pinterest! Now I store some recipes I like and other random ideas.
I love to sit on our front porch and watch the sunset!
I love taking the last few minutes before bed and play Words with Friends and catch up Instagram. It might just be for 10 or 15 minutes but I love doing these right before bed.
