If you like Ryan's belly laughs that don't quit, then you've got to listen to this one. :) Podcast Tuesday!
This past weekend, I had the chance to try something new! Let me give you a little bit of back story.
A couple of years ago, I created some curriculum to use in helping people understand how to write their own stories. (Or parts of their own stories, anyway.) I really wanted to be able to teach a class on the topic sometime, but I wasn't sure how to go about creating such an event.
So imagine my surprise (and delight!) when I received a message last fall from a friend of mine who works at the Marion Public Library asking about that very kind of thing! We wrote back and forth a few times and before I knew it, just such a class was all set up!
The curriculum I wrote covered five sessions, so our classes are set up once a month for five months. The first class met this last Saturday and I had a blast.
The first session is called Storyprints, and it is a foundation piece that introduces the framework of writing your own story.
We ended up having a dozen people come together for the class, and we had a wide variety of ages represented! My friend Faith was part of the class, so she kindly took a few pictures for me. (It really pays to have your scrapbooking buddy in your class!)
And yes, I did bring two drinks with me. Only one is coffee. :)
This class was just a dream come true. The participants were so kind and worked hard on their assignment before they even left the class!
I'm really excited to meet up with them in July and see what they came up with during the weeks we're apart.
I'd love to do this class again and again in additional settings, so if you and/or your friends have a desire to preserve a piece of your family history, let me know!

How exciting!! Can't wait to hear more about the classes!
So exciting! Do the participants need to attend the classes in order or can they just, say, drop in at third week? And how cool is it that the Marion library is a museum, too? Just when I thought libraries could not be any more cool...this one takes the cake :).
Wish I lived closer! I would have been there. So glad it went well.
Oh, what a cool class idea, Bekah! I’m sure those people appreciated the help with writing their stories.
