Last week, you know, we had little Miss Phoebe the goldendoodle staying with us, and two hours is about her max for being left alone, so we had to pull the responsible-dog-sitter card and do a really fast date so we could get back home to her.
It was okay, though, because I'm really enjoying the intentional finding of cute places in our new town to have hometown dates. And this seemed the perfect night to check another one off our list.
We had heard about this little store called Junk 'n Java, but neither of us had ever been there, so it seemed this was the perfect time to check it out!
The store sits at the end of a strip mall and according to a post I found on their Facebook page, it looks like it's just been open a little over a year. It's a mix of retail and resale, with a coffee bar and even a few lunch options on the menu. So if you like shopping and coffee, it's pretty much the place to be.
Ryan and I poked around all the treasures, checking out the mix of the new and the old. I always love seeing the ideas people think of for giving new life to old things.
We found coloring books, clothing, reclaimed furniture, cute little signs, books, and all kinds of treasures.
Oh! And Ryan found this that he thought I needed. I'm sure I don't know why.
{I don't have real road rage. More like road irritation.}
In addition to the shopping, the little shop also offers COFFEE, and Ryan and I each tried some. Mine was a latte; I forget the exact name of it but it was white mocha and raspberry - and DELICIOUS. Ryan did a fresh brew with some extra espresso jolts in it.
{Can we also talk about how much I love that burlap skirting???}
The coffee area was in just a small corner of the store with one dining room-sized table to sit and relax, but we needed to get back home to the Pheebster, so we got ours to go.
And I should also mention we actually made a purchase! We went back for it the next day. A shelf made out of reclaimed wood that is now a piece of our guest room! {The room isn't finished yet, so I can't show it to you in its habitat, but here is the piece at the store!}
Literally a perfect fit for that room. Even better than I imagined when it was sitting right here.
The coffee was good, the owner was friendly, and I loved poking around at the treasures to be found. I plan to go back {and probably often} to see what new things I can find!
I also know that every so often on Saturdays, she hosts vendor sales, where people can set up their wares in a Farmer's Market kind of way out on the sidewalk, so I'm excited to attend one of those at some point. AND there are occasional classes, from sewing to coffee and canvas and even oil seminars.
Really cute little place, and a quick and easy hometown date. I'm glad we went, and we'll certainly be back!
