This past Saturday, we had a rarity in Shafferland: a Saturday off work with no plans. Gasp!! So we took advantage of the moment and planned a Christmas shopping extravaganza. We wanted to try to knock out as much of the shopping in one day as we possibly could.
Ryan is a blast the shop with...so I really looked forward to the day! We slept in a little and made breakfast at home. While we ate, we worked on our plan for the day, and then we headed out to shop!
Ryan thought we needed this:
I thought we needed these:
But then...we remembered we were there to shop for OTHERS and not for OURSELVES.
So with our point of view freshly realigned, we began to think of those we loved:
To those of you receiving this one this year, you're welcome.
After working hard on our shopping, and knocking a lot of it out of the way, we hit one of my favorites for lunch: Burger King! I love that place.
Yeah, I was wearing my Christmas shirt. The bottom says "I Really Tried." LOL!!!
We took a break in the afternoon to watch a movie. This one was Ryan's choice, but I admit to getting some good laughs!!
I admit, though, my most favorite laugh was this one. Ryan matched the theater seats! I was dating a head and pair of hands!
In the end, we didn't have the place to ourselves, but there were probably less than 20 people in there, so it was very lovely.
After the movie...a little more shopping and a little more fun!
We did our grocery shopping, got a pizza, and came home to rest and watch a movie on TV.
I loved the proof that we could have a fun, all-day date that didn't cost too much! {Shopping excluded.} We never left town, ate fast food, went to a matinee movie, and still had the time of our lives!

Mark insisted we watch "Dumb and Dumber To" as well. Seriously, did we marry twins?
I believe we did, and I think it's great! Ryan didn't have to insist very hard. My intelligence is only slightly above this. And we may have watched a hallmark movie later. :) Good boy!
YES Dan wants to see that movie too! haha I can't wait actually. :)
and you guys are the best. I have not been to burger King since high school and now I am wanting a burger.
adore that shirt! "i really tried"
:)
XOXO
You should go to Burger King. And then Culvers. I seem to be on a burger kick these days!
LOL! Love this shirt. Bought it for family Christmas a couple years ago and now it's my shopping shirt.
Catching up on posts while I eat lunch. 1) It has been TOO long since I have read your blog! I don't know why I have been slacking!! 2) Maybe our next lunch should be at Burger King? Lol 3) That picture of Ryan at the movies is hilarious!!!
I love how you managed to make shopping fun! And I envy you your Saturday with no plans. I wish we had one of those coming up soon, but we don't.
