SSMT: Verse 20

I cannot believe that after this verse...there are only two more in this project. I still remember sitting wrapped in layers of fleece, sipping coffee and reading the verses from Isaiah that kicked off my year...and now we're almost done!

My prayer life lately has...lacked. I speak with God often. It's a running conversation throughout the day. and there's nothing wrong with that. It's praying without ceasing. (That's the verse I should memorize! Oh wait. I did.)

But the sitting-down, focused, concentrated, hard-core prayer time - lacks. It bothers me. It bothers me because it shows me I have priorities that are out of line and my schedule is too busy.

So then I found this verse:

But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. - Jude 1:20

...build yourselves up...takes effort on my part. If I'm serious about improving my relationship with the Lord, I need to WORK on it. Just like any other relationship, it's not going to happen on its own.

...most holy faith...can't forget how sacred this is. This isn't just any old thing. This is my faith. This is the most important thing I have.

...pray in the Holy Spirit...the same Spirit who intercedes for me when I don't have words. The same Spirit who comforts me when I hurt. The power to pray comes from Him.

I have some work to do. I'm so thankful He's patient.
