Saturday Suggestions

Happy Saturday, my friends! We have had a good little week here in Shafferland. The weather has turned chilly on us, but we’ve enjoyed cozy evenings at home, we’ve been watching God do some sweet things in our lives, and we are doing our best to prep for the busy weeks to come. Along the way I found some treasures to share with you today. Enjoy!

ONE.

It is my duty to remind you that the time changes tomorrow. The good news is that we get an extra hour of sleep! The bad news is that you have to reset all the clocks that don’t reset themselves! 😊

TWO.

I loved this post, based on a journal entry, that includes some really good questions to regularly ponder in your own heart. We’re still at the start of a new month, and I think that makes this a great time to ask these very questions and see what God presses on you!

THREE.

I stumbled upon this blanket this week, and MY GOODNESS. This is like the ultimate in thick, plush blankets. If you’re thinking this winter might be a cold one, and you need to stay extra extra warm, I don’t think you can go wrong with this one. You might even sweat!

FOUR.

With the multi-month holiday season upon us, you might need some ideas for hostess gifts. These are some cute ideas to build on if you need to take something with you for a meal or party!

FIVE.

As I told you, I just bought some fuzzy slippers that have been a game-changer for walking on our chilly floors. I’ve also pulled out a throw blanket to have over my lap while I work. (My desk is right next to a window, so sometimes it’s not the warmest spot, even if the house is warm enough.) I am all about the subtle lamplight, the comfortable fall scents, the hoodies, the slippers, the blankets…so I love these ideas for all the cozy in the house!

SIX.

This house, which appears to have already sold, was the most popular listing on realtor.com this week. I’m not sure it is the most practical house I’ve ever seen, but it sure has some wonderful and unique features. I sorta love it! All the arches and stone and natural light (and books!) had me swooning. And in other  news, the 5th most popular house this week was right here in Indiana – not far from us – and I already knew about it because I know the agent who listed it! (It’s her very first listing ever…and it made the most popular list. Not too shabby!)

Oh, wow! I almost didn’t click on the journal entry post, but I clicked on it and saw a name I recognized, and then clicked on the link that tells about their staff for that website. Brenda is the wife of the Director of Camp Lutherhaven here in northeast Indiana, and I went to a retreat she did several years ago on the topic of run hard rest well.

Someone in my building this week gave me a little card with a message on it and then a little red plastic diamond. It’s from their son, who was diagnosed with an illness several years ago and apparently is now in his last days. He’s been in hospice for years, and the gal who gave it to me told me that he does not have long to live. So that’s the hard time she was speaking of in her journal entry. He wanted to give out these red diamonds to remind people that God is with them and loves them. I’m sure I didn’t get that message exactly right. He wanted to give out like 10,000 of these or 100,000 of these.

Another interesting thing is that one of her team members is a parent of one of my former students, and another team member is one of my former students!
