The Shafferland Shuffle

It's Christmas week! I've heard so many people say it just doesn't feel like Christmas this year, and while I don't feel I've lost my Christmas spirit, it definitely is a different sort of year. We've been doing our best to squeeze in as much festivity and cheer as we can! This week it was mixed with a lot of work, as we just came off an eight day work stretch, but here is a glimpse of what we did!

* We were on duty last Sunday morning, which meant we had church here at WillowBridge with our tenants, but before we did that, I enjoyed my first cup of coffee here in the apartment in my new mug! It's adorable. I managed to squeeze in a quick nap that afternoon, in between work chores, and Ryan managed to get a picture of it - ha! It's okay. I got a picture of him (and Braeya) snoozing, too!

* We spent Monday working together with Tim and Justine, and that night we had the WillowBridge team Christmas party! We ordered pizza (so it could be a true break for all of us and no one would have to cook) and enjoyed our dinner together. Then we hung out in our apartment for a few hours and exchanged gifts and talked. Didn't even have to talk about work! Just talked for fun. It was a great night. It's not lost to me how we didn't even know Tim and Justine last Christmas, and now we do life with them almost every single day. We're thankful for them!

* We also worked with Tim and Justine on Tuesday, and it was my last time to rock their baby to sleep as an 11 month old! She officially turned one on Wednesday! We also got a special Christmas delivery for WillowBridge that day. An amazing group of women from a local church went shopping for our tenants and brought Christmas to our door - all wrapped and labeled. What a huge blessing that was for us! That evening, Ryan worked out in our apartment while I cooked our dinner. :)

* We had some snow on Wednesday, which wasn't so bad, though the roads were pretty slick! Braeya supervised Ryan's' shoveling work before we had to do morning transportation runs. After those runs, Ryan and I went to the store for ice melt, because apparently the time had come to actually need it! :) We spent the rest of the day doing office chores. Ryan got to play with the label maker, which turned out to be as delightful for him as it always is for me!

* One of our big projects left to do in Abby was the flooring, and we decided to hire that done. Yes, Ryan can do flooring, but sometimes you have to put a value on your time. So I took all the before pictures of the flooring, since the guys were coming to work Thursday. Before they could put down the tile, they had to add luan flooring. (Don't ask me...I have no idea.) Part of the floor was plywood and part of it was linoleum when we bought the RV, so this helped with all that. And the snow continued throughout that day - and it was so pretty!!! Oh! And one of the babies hung out with us for a while that night.

* We had to run some work Christmas errands on Friday, and it was such a pretty day to be out and about. (Selfie taken while waiting for food at the drive-thru...we offered to feed out flooring guys.) And we signed up to pick up leftover Panera that night so we could take it to Gateway Woods. We got home about 11:15 from that adventure, and then it was time to just sit and enjoy the beautiful QUIET. And so began our two days off!

* We slept in Saturday morning and I hunkered down with my scrapbook and Ryan worked on all his little home projects that make him happy. (Literal happy dances, actually.) After a morning of rest, we headed out for some Christmas shopping/grocery shopping and we drove around Fort Wayne to look at light shows! It was a fun night!

I have two label makers at work, one of which is connected to my computer and I can print address labels, file folder labels, and hanging file folder labels. I get excited when I need to use it! (It’s a Dymo, btw!)

How many tenants do you have that you work with? Just curious!
Merry Christmas!
