Stop the Finale Madness!!

I did not watch American Idol live tonight because I'm also a Biggest Loser fan and its THREE HOUR finale was tonight. I thought it a wiser use of my time to watch it live and catch up on Idol a bit later. So now I catch up....

Danny - I'm not sure I was crazy about the song Paula chose for him, but he gave a great performance with it!!! Obviously I'm a huge Danny fan, so at this point he's not going to do anything to make me mad. I don't think it was his best ever performance, but it was entertaining.

Kris - Has he played the piano before? I remember the guitar but I don't remember the piano. I thought he did a REALLY good job with this song. My favorite part was the smoky sounding end of it. Nice!!! I agree with Randy that he gave a good picture of who he would be as an artist.

Adam - Sigh. I have to admit I liked that one. It still wasn't as good as some of them earlier in the season, but it was better than the last couple of weeks.

Danny - Okay I'm probably a sucker for this song, but I loved it!! I loved the twist he put on it to make it more his style. I loved the way he connected with the song. I rarely agree with Kara, but I'll borrow her "stunning" comment. :) Good luck, Danny!! I hope you make it into the finals!

Kris - Good job, Kris! I think he picked a great song to end on - and I loved seeing that softer side of him again. I'm glad the judges gave him good reviews - I want to see him in those finals!

Adam - Scary Adam was back in that last song. Didn't love it. But of course since he went last again, he'll be fine. Sigh.

It goes without saying that I want a finale of Kris and Danny, but after tonight I think it might be Kris and Adam. :( At least if the judges' comments really do push.....

I think that song picked by Paula by Terrnce Trent-Darby for Danny waas horrible! He did what he could with it, by WHY THAT SONG? "Dance Little Sister" is such a mediocre song! His 2nd preformance of "You're So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker was much better. I didn't like Kris' "Apologize" by One Republic performance, but I really liked his second. I thought he made "Heartless" better than Kanye West's version! Adam did his thing with "One" by U2 and it was alright. I thought he did well with Aerosmith's "Cryin'" but I think his wailing scream is getting redundant. He's done this signature yell with very song he's done (with the exception of Smokey Robinson's "Tracks Of My Tears"- my favorite of his performances). I think Kris' first performance might keep him from being in the finale, despite his redemption from his second performance.
I hope to see Danny & Adam next week with Adam being crowned Idol of '09.

I think it's going to be Danny and Adam in the finale.

Honestly, I hope they all go on to have great careers. They all have very distinctly different styles, so it's hard for me to pick a favorite. They are all talented.

On sheer ability to sing any style, Adam wins. I think Danny is a slightly better singer overall than Kris, but Kris has some excellent skills as a musician that will take him far in a future music career.

Really, I wish them all luck.

My opinons, for what they are worth :-D are:

Danny: He's done better on some songs, but pulled this one out of the fire a bit. Second song was indeed, much better. That is saying something since I really do NOT like "You Are So Beautiful" since it's been done and done and done again.

Kris: Despite the judges' opinions, it is Kris whom I feel has shown the most originality overall. Again, Kris' songs weren't the same ones I may have chosen. HOWEVER, he did great with "Heartless".

Adam: (YAWN) Yes, Sarah, the screaming thing IS getting old. Yelling and screaming notes is easier than changing songs up and redoing them. It was obvious by Simon's song choice that he is seeing "Rock Star? equals BIG MONEY". The problem is, that star is going to burn out and fizzle when he isn't able to put more substance into his performance.

About the judges: Their choices have never been for the same type of songs I would choose. I don't know that I'd trust ANY of the judges to pick a song for me since they are so obviously biased for Adam to win.

About the phones: As if things weren't bad enough...the phone lines here were really screwed up. Well, except for those my friends made on their phones for Adam, natch.

I phoned for Kris and Danny, with weird results. When I couldn't get through, which was a LOT of the time, the phone would just not ring or anything. I hope no one else had problems with phoning in their votes. (groan)

Prediction: With the exception of some sort of miracle occuring, Adam will automatically be in the finale. Who the other person is could go either way. Danny may get extra sympathy votes with the death in his family.

Hands down, though, I think Kris deserves to win.

Man, Sarah, you know this music so well!!! You are my musical hero. :) Oh - and did I tell you how much I loved my card??? Trapper Keeper!!!!!! I'd forgotten all about those!

Christina, despite my less than enthusiastic response to Adadm, I agree with you in that I hope (and believe) all three will be able to go on to successful careers because they really do have so much talent in their own ways.

Tsofah - the death in Danny's family - was there another one? Or are you going back to his wife?

Going back to his wife, Bekah.

That is just too sad.

Yes, it was. I cried and cried when they played his audition tape. (Surely that can't shock you.)

Bekah, all this musical knowledge is worthless... unless VH1 brings back "Rock & Roll Jeopardy" - I kicked major butt watching that in high school (and YES, I kept my score at home)! I wish there were a game show like that on tv so I could go on and win thousands of dollars to pay off my student loans. Grrr... student loans... oops! No offense, Bekah! :)

LOL none taken. Although I probably signed the papers!! Sorry about that.....do you still love me?

Bye Danny...sniff, sniff. Here are my sweet lemons. Actually, he's probably better off not winning "Idol". I don't know what he's got in mind for the future, but I think this puts him in a better position for an impactful ministry in praise and worship music. If he'd won, he'd be stuck doing secular Idol contract stuff for a long time.He has great potential to reach many people for Christ. What a sweetheart.
